As Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Brookfield Residential, Alan oversees the management and strategic direction for the Brookfield Residential business. Alan joined the company in 1983 and took over as CEO in 1994. Under his leadership, he grew the company’s asset base to $3.8 billion and the employee base to more than 1,300 people. Today, Brookfield Residential operates in 12 major North American markets, including throughout Alberta, Ontario, Washington, D.C. California, Colorado, Texas and Arizona. Alan holds a B.A. degree in accounting and economics and two Chartered Accountant Designations, Scotland and Canada.
Alan’s active involvement in the community includes being a past director of Theatre Calgary; he is currently Chair of the Resolve Fundraising campaign to raise $120 million for affordable housing in Calgary, a collaborative campaign representing nine different agencies that are addressing homelessness. He is also past Chairman of the Calgary Homeless Foundation. Alan was named the recipient of the 2013 Distinguished Business Leader Award by the Haskayne School of Business and the Calgary Chamber.
Adrian has been an integral part of the executive team since 1996, where he currently oversees operations for Brookfield Residential. He is directly responsible for stewarding operational objectives and implementing strategic initiatives across the North American businesses. Previously, Adrian managed Brookfield Residential’s California operations. Born and raised in England, Adrian earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Greenwich, London.
In his role as the Executive Vice President and Corporate Counsel, Shane oversees the company’s corporate services group, which include information technology, human resources and corporate legal services. He joined Brookfield in 2001 and has held various senior executive roles in the company. Shane earned a law degree from the University of Toronto and a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Studies (Urban and Regional Planning) from the University of Waterloo.
Don oversees Brookfield Residential’s California, Arizona and Texas operations. In his 23 years with the company, Don has held various Executive roles in land development, housing and mixed-use/redevelopment. He has also led the start-up of several operating divisions in multiple cities. Don holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Calgary and a Master of Business Administration from Texas A&M University.
Thomas is the Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Brookfield Residential. He joined the company in 2011 as its Corporate Controller and has been active in the company’s financial reporting, treasury, capital markets, investor relations and internal audit initiatives. Thomas obtained his Charter Accountant designation in 2007 and his Bachelor of Commerce from the Haskayne School of Business at the University of Calgary in 2006.
Thomas is actively involved with two not-for-profit organizations. He is currently the President and Director at the Ronald McDonald House Charities Southern and Central Alberta and is a Board of Director at Wellspring Calgary.
Trent oversees Brookfield Residential’s Alberta operations. He has taken on various roles as the company has grown, including Vice President of Finance with Brookfield Residential Alberta and Chief Operating Officer in Australia. Trent gained a Bachelor of Commerce degree at the University of Alberta in 1994, followed by his Chartered Accounting designation.
Trent is passionate about building great cities and great communities and believes in lifting up those who need our help to make us all stronger. He is actively involved on the boards of Westman Centre for Real Estate Studies, Calgary Economic Development and the Sheldon Kennedy Child Advocacy Centre.
As Senior Vice President, Finance & Planning, Warren is responsible for Brookfield Residential’s strategic and financial planning. As a member of the acquisition committee, he oversees capital allocation towards new investment opportunities in Brookfield Residential’s 12 operating markets. Warren joined Brookfield Homes, a predecessor to Brookfield Residential, in 2009. Warren holds a Bachelor of Accounting degree and two Chartered Accountant Designations, South Africa and Canada.
Peter oversees Brookfield Residential’s eastern operations, which includes operations in Ontario, Canada, and operations in Washington, D.C. and Colorado. He has over 30 years of experience in land and housing. Peter joined the company in 1990 and has held various executive positions within the company. In 1998, Peter served as President in the Eastern Region and was responsible for overseeing the longer term land and housing operations in Ontario, Canada. Peter holds a Bachelor of Applied Science from the University of Toronto and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Alberta.
He is actively involved with community charities, and is a board member for the Shaw Festival Theatre Company in Niagara-on-the Lake and Community Living Oakville.
